Bullitt (1968) — A Cornerstone of Automotive Cinema
Few films have left as lasting a tire mark on cinema as Bullitt. Starring the “King of Cool” Steve McQueen, it redefined the car chase on screen, setting a new standard for realism, intensity, and style. Its legendary San Francisco sequence of Mustang vs. Charger remains one of the most celebrated pieces of automotive filmmaking ever captured. But Bullitt is more than a chase; it’s a mood, a character study, and a film that gave muscle and grit to the modern action genre.
About the Miles & Mechanica Film Series
This screening marks the launch of the Miles & Mechanica Film Series, a new program dedicated to showcasing landmark films where cars and motorcycles play more than supporting roles rather they help define the story, the style, and the spirit of the film itself.
As part of the series, audiences will also have the chance to round up or donate at the concession in support of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive (September) and the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (May). These global charity events celebrating classic and vintage cars and motorcycles while raising funds for Movember, benefitting suicide prevention, men’s mental health, and prostate cancer awareness. Through cinema and community, Miles & Mechanica aims to celebrate the culture of these machines while fueling meaningful impact beyond the screen.
