Terry Fox began his run across Canada in 1979 to raise awareness and hope in the fight against cancer.

The 22-year-old man did not survive to see his dream become reality. But his hope has lived on in a way more powerful than anyone could have ever imagined.

Encore Cinemas is proudly supporting the 30^th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run in two ways this year.

We're currently helping the Oakville Terry Fox committee raise funds and awareness for the Terry Fox Foundation by selling Terry Toonie Shoes. This campaign is taking place across Oakville and all proceeds go straight to the foundation created in Terry's name.

Encore Cinemas is also hosting a special showing of Terry on May 19 at 7 pm. Terry is the 2005 CTV film focussing on the Marathon of Hope, with a brilliant performance by Shawn Ashmore as Terry Fox.

We are proud to be supporters of this initiative, and hope, just as Terry did, that we can someday cure cancer.
