The temperatures are spiking to well over 30 degrees with
the humidity this week. What better way to cool down than in a movie
theatre?
![]() When Encore Cinemas CEO Jeff Knoll took his four children and a few friends to see a movie and walked away a few pounds lighter in his wallet, it was the final inspiration and motivation he needed to start a theatre where you could see BIG MOVIES for small prices. Family hits such as Shrek Forever After (PG) are showing in Oakville and Diary of a Wimpy Kid (PG) is showing in Burlington. It's a great way to spend time with the family and beat the summer heat! Also stay tuned for more information about the newest star at Encore Cinemas... For show times click the 'theatres' link at the top of this page. Terry Fox began his run across Canada in 1979 to raise awareness and hope in the fight against cancer. The 22-year-old man did not survive to see his dream become reality. But his hope has lived on in a way more powerful than anyone could have ever imagined. Encore Cinemas is proudly supporting the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run in two ways this year. We're currently helping the Oakville Terry Fox committee raise funds and awareness for the Terry Fox Foundation by selling Terry Toonie Shoes. This campaign is taking place across Oakville and all proceeds go straight to the foundation created in Terry's name. Encore Cinemas is also hosting a special showing of Terry on May 19 at 7 pm. Terry is the 2005 CTV film focussing on the Marathon of Hope, with a brilliant performance by Shawn Ashmore as Terry Fox. We are proud to be supporters of this initiative, and hope, just as Terry did, that we can someday cure cancer. Help us spread the word - print the poster linked below and post it around your neighbourhood/workplace!
Film.Ca Inc. (Encore Cinemas) is looking for our financial/administration "go to" person to support the team
who deliver BIG MOVIES for small prices in Oakville and Burlington.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently but is flexible enough to function in a team environment. Our administration and bookkeeping is not in a mess, but it does need the tender loving care of a detail oriented and results driven individual who can help round out our management team. The successful candidate will report directly to the gruff but lovable Chief Executive Officer - a super guy who has many irons in the fire (and yes, he is writing this job description too). You will liaise with our Chartered Accountants in the preparation of annual returns and filings. If you're interested and want to help keep our BIG MOVIES at small prices, get the full listing by clicking here and apply preferably by email (jknoll@film.ca with 'Financial Position' in the header) by Wednesday, May 12 at 5 pm. Only potential candidates will be contacted, no phone calls please. Encore
