ChemericalPosterNov22009.jpgWe are huge fans of our friend, Documentary Filmmaker Andrew Nisker and to help him continue his work, we are selling DVDs of his two award winning documentaries at Encore Oakville!

We recently ran a very successful screening of his latest work "Chemerical" and two years ago introduced his previous film "Garbage! The Revolution Starts At Home" to Oakville audiences.

This holiday, you can bring home the message by buying your own copy or copies to give! Buy your copy today at Encore Oakville! Single copies or either movie are $20 and a pack of 10 are $65!  Taxes included!  For only $6.50, you can give the gift of green!  We are passing these on to our guest AT COST to help Andrew continue to make more important films!

For more information on these films, or to see trailers, visit Andrew's website at http://chemicalnation.com/

EncoreCard small.jpgWe have the solution for your Christmas list this year. The gift of entertainment!

Encore Cinemas Film Cards are available in any denomination and can be redeemed for tickets and/or snacks!

As a bonus, our Film Cards perform double duty as our loyalty point card, so your gift can keep on giving long after the holidays are over!

Once used up, Film Cards can be refilled.

You can purchase Film Cards at either Encore location!

Both Encore Cinemas locations are open for matinee performances everyday through to January 3rd!

Check our features and showtimes listing for more information.

We want to make sure we give credit where credit is due and thank The Globe and Mail for finally including Encore Cinemas feature and showtime listings in their movie section on a daily basis!

For years, our listings appeared intermittently which lead to confusion to our guests and, frankly, has given an unfair advantage to our competition whose listings always appear. It had seemed that independent theatres were second class citizens in eyes of the G & M.

We were so frustrated by this that we asked our customers to write and ask the Publisher to change their policy and make sure that Encore was part of the listings.

We are thrilled to be able to thank our great customers who took the time to write and lobby and tell you that efforts paid off!  Encore Cinemas is now a daily feature in the showtimes listing in The Globe and Mail and they have even redesigned the entire showtimes page to be easier to read and understand.

Thank you again Globe and Mail and also to our fantastic loyal customers for supporting their local theatre!

ChemericalPosterNov22009.jpgWe are excited to be presenting Andrew Nisker's new film "Chemerical". You may recall that we had the privilege to present his previous documentary "Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home" to a capacity crowd. We hope you will be able to join us as we Redefine Clean through this important new film "Chemerical"!

Andrew will be in attendance at our screening to talk about his work and answer questions. DVDs will be on sale on the day of the screening and although there is no admission, we ask that you bring a food donation to Kerr Street Food Bank and consider making a donation to Andrew to help support his socially conscious filmmaking efforts!

About the film:

Filmmaker Andrew Nisker puts a new spin on the story of how we treat our planet in his latest film Chemerical.  He asks a family to purge their home of everyday chemicals and adopt a chemical-free lifestyle.  Chemerical then takes the audience on an eye-opening journey through the lifecycle of everyday chemicals the family uses.

Chemerical digs deep to explore the consequences of living in a chemical laden nation by raising the following questions: What are the chemicals doing to us and the environment? Do we need the chemicals we use on a daily basis? What would happen if an average family kicked the chemical habit for three months? Would their health improve? What effect will living a chemical free lifestyle have on the environment?

Sparking awareness through an interesting and inspiring dialogue of an issue that affects the lives of everyone; Chemerical will seek to catalyze a change in behavior. Focusing on the lives and foibles of a family that subsists on a chemical dependent lifestyle, the film will relate and share their story as a basis for connecting the dots between our consumer choices and community environmental concerns.
