Countdown to D-Cinema and 3D! Update on pricing and scheduling

As we get closer to the roll-out of the D-Cinema/3-D installation, I though I would update you on some of the important points about the changes.

First of all, the bad news. 3-D performances mean an extra admission surcharge. For all 3-D presentations, we will be adding a $2.00 surcharge to your picket purchase. Now I understand this is a lot, but there are two things to keep in mind - it is still LESS THAN our competitors and most of it goes back to Real-D for the privilege of using their process. The rest is going to help us offset the $100K investment that was necessary to bring 3-D movies to Encore.

Next, we had hoped that we could mix up 2-D and 3-D performances so that those who did not want to pay the extra, and particularly for those who do not like 3-D, you would have an option. Unfortunately, the studios will not allow us to do this. According to them, we are either presenting in 3D or not.  What we will do is likely run 3D for two (?) weeks and then drop to 2D to accommodate everyone. We are sorry for this, unfortunately we do not make the rules for the use of movies - we are very much at the mercy of the studio lawyers on issues such as these. If that policy changes, we will adjust our scheduling accordingly.

Just to be absolutely clear - there is NO impact on regular admission prices for non 3-D presentations!

The VERY HEAVY AND VERY LARGE projector arrived today. The driver left it in our lane way and Jason and I had to wrestle the brute into the building. Here is a picture of our blue baby sitting in the fire route.
