We are in need of a key member of the Encore Management team. A person with the ability to join our cinema management team to take on theatre management responsibility as well as assist the CEO in the development and delivery of advertising and marketing initiatives.
This job will start part time but if the candidate excels in the role and contributes to our team then it will evolve into a full time position. Like most service industry jobs, this one is not going to make you rich with a starting rate of $15.00/hour. While cinema management experience is not required (but would be great), some experience in the supervision of a service/retail business is required (i.e restaurant, recreation facilities, retail stores). We have no specific educational requirements, but training/education/experience in marketing, advertising, web design/management, and/or graphic design would be amazing! Excellent computer skills are essential and comfort with technology and a wide assortment of electrical equipment (food service, projection, audio, etc.) is required. You will learn a whole range of interesting skills including the art of film projection and the skill of managing a large team of (mostly teen aged) staff (kind of like herding cats). We are a strictly non-smoking environment. Evenings and weekend work is part of the theatre business so understanding friends and family will also be required. The cinema industry is fun, and oddly addictive, so you will likely not ever want to leave once you get started ... so be prepared! We think Encore is a fun and rewarding (in more ways than cash) place to work. If you like movies, you will see MANY as our staff have unlimited passes and managers can also attend advance trade screenings weeks in advance of the public (makes for great conversation material at parties!). This position will "mostly" involve working at our Oakville location however all of our management team members are required to spend time at both locations so transportation is pretty important too.
