UPDATE: WE ARE OUT OF WATCHES AS OF 3:30 PM SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2008.  SORRY, WE WERE ONLY GIVEN 600 BY DISNEY...

In conjunction with Walt Disney, Encore Cinemas is participating with a promotion to give-a-way Wall-E inspired watches to the first 600 children (ages 13 and under) who see Wall-E when it opens at Encore Oakville on Friday, June 27th, 2008.

The watches are being given away to the first 600 children who walk through the door with a ticket to see the movie - buying tickets in advance or on the internet will not assure your child of getting a watch.

Our first show starts at 12:30 on Friday! Full schedule here.

These are fun little working watches (warning to parents... they are hard to set) but they are only worth a few dollars each, so it is not worth lining up Thursday night to get one (but you can if you want to).

We are very excited to be able to present the latest Disney/Pixar family  film - Wall-E!  Opening at Encore Oakville on Friday, June 27th!

From everything we have heard from our colleagues that attended the trade screenings, this is going to be HUGE and will end up on many top-10 lists!

This is going to be a FILM-TASTIC summer at Encore...
OK, I get it. We don't sell hard boiled eggs at the snack bar, but that does not mean that you can smuggle them into the cinema!

Awww, my favorite topic - outside food at the movies.

"Gee mister, why is it that we cannot bring fried chicken, baked potatoes, beer, venicin or watermelon into your theatres?"

Well, the reason is simple Billy, we are in the food service business and that is how we make our money! Sure, we make money at the box office, but after the greedy producers and studios get done fleecing us for the 50-70% take of the admission revenue, we need the snack bar revenue to pay the bills. Just try and sit down at McDonald's with a big bag of Wendy's food. Better yet, bring along a tray of sushi next time you visit Paradiso's Downtown! I am sure that they would have a similar reaction.

Also, frankly, it is a mess. Sad to say, 70-80% of our customers (with the except of you, oh loyal reader and valued audience member!) do not clean up to themselves. They believe that it is a form of flattery to dump their garbage all over the floor for our staff to clean up. The happier they are with their movie-going experience, the more they dump. While we just don't get it, we still have to clean it up for the next audience. It is one thing to clean up the mess of items purchased from our snack bar, it is quite another thing to be picking up the remnants of your Chinese dinner for 4 that you have only partially eaten.

And finally, as if that were not enough to convince you, there is the issue of consideration to your fellow audience members. We carefully choose snack bar items that emit minimal odor. This is to avoid the inevitable flood of other audience members who do not share your love of Limburger cheese and sardine sandwiches.

So, lets summarize. We do not allow outside food or beverages in the theatres and we really appreciate your cooperation and consideration in helping us keep our prices low and our auditoriums clean and fresh smelling!

Having said all of that, we are always open to exceptions for real medical restrictions. And no, we will not accept a note from your brother-in-law (even written on a napkin signed Dr. Blue Light) that you must consume beer as a matter of your health), but we are aware of allergy and dietary issues and we will always work with you on those. Feel free to ask to see a manager for assistance.
